My sister Joy had what is called a 4-D ultrasound last Tuesday, at Cardinal Santos hospital in San Juan. Originally she was supposed to have the ultrasound done at UERM, but there was another patient sedated and prepped for surgery there ahead of her. Impatient to discover the gender of the baby, she and Tristan decided to drive off. Luckily, one of their friends Blue was a resident at the Radiology Section of Cardinal Santos, and he quietly arranged for the 4-D ultrasound to be recorded in .avi files on a cd. The proud parents-to-be have been taking the laptop out to show Baby Abara's first home movies!

The baby -- at 5 months and 4 days -- was very active that afternoon and was stretching its limbs throughout the procedure. It was so active even the consultant who checked on the ultrasound couldn't tell the gender and told us all to wait till the 7th month, when all will be revealed.

Most of us had a hunch it would be a boy (based on dreams and the shape of her tummy -- what we Pinoys call "pointed"). It could be a girl, though. Nevertheless, we all oohed and ahhed. Everyone is in love. The doting grandparents' first remarks were, "What a nose!"

If it's a girl, it will be named Olivia Sofia. If it's a boy, it'll be called Liam Matthew.

Abangan ang susunod na kabanata.
